Propylene glycol is usually a slightly sweet, odorless, clear, colorless, oily liquid that absorbs moisture and mixes easily with water, acetone, and chloroform. Propylene glycol has good viscosity and hygroscopic property, less viscosity, toxicity and irritation than glycerol, and has good solubility, so it is widely used as hygroscopic agent, antifreeze agent, lubricant and solvent in food, medicine and cosmetics industry.

 Propylene glycol has a good ability to dissolve food coloring, and is not volatile after addition and low price, so it is an ideal solvent for food coloring.
The emulsifying and wetting properties of propylene glycol have been widely used in the manufacture of bread and pastries abroad.
In addition, because of its emulsifying property, the production time of bread can be shortened. When bread with propylene glycol, easy to absorb moisture in the air, so can prevent bread and cake hardening.
In the production of fresh eggs and thin noodles, the addition of propylene glycol can prevent the drying of bread, has a good luster, and is relatively stable, can maintain its fresh state for a longer period of time.
